About
Who's behind the lens?
Here I am. My name is Marianna Berno, and I was born in Naples — a city full of contrasts and never-ending stories.
I picked up a camera in 2011, looking for a language that could reach where words stop. A sudden detail — the way it is caressed by the light…
So many events and choices in my life have shaped my photographic style: artists I admire, people I've crossed paths with, Eastern cinema (Wong Kar-Wai, Takeshi Kitano) and, above all, my training as a Japanologist, which let me immerse myself fully in Japanese culture.
My favourite genre is street photography: spontaneous, authentic. I like my subjects to be an integral part of the environment and the atmosphere, helping to create the emotion. Beauty is everywhere and in everyone — I'm convinced that each person is a microcosm. And that is what I try to capture in my photographs, before it dissolves into the flow of the city.
Many of the shots you see here are available as prints, to bring a piece of this story into your own spaces. And if you'd like an authentic photographic story, far from artificial poses, I'm ready to capture yours. Let's talk about it.
You can write to me directly through the form in the Contact section. It would be a pleasure to meet you. Note: my services are available in Italian, English, Japanese and Spanish.
